Day 3 - It's Easter Blog Hop

If you're here for The Scrapbooking Queen's Royal Birthday Ball, please click HERE to have your carriage magically transport you there.  You're also welcome to peruse the following It's Easter Blog IF you have time and your driver will wait!!

Hello again, my little Chickadees ...

WELCOME TO DAY #3  of the IT'S EASTER Blog Hop, where a group of talented crafters has been offering a lot of GREAT ideas for Easter celebrations.

Each of these very talented blog hoppers has put a lot of time into their projects for you. Please do visit each stop along the way and share love.

If you've reached me, you've likely come here via Tristan's fun blog. And you're heading over to see Monica's gorgeous flowers and other crafts at Scraps2Treasure

If you're joining us mid-hop, please do start at the very beginning -- Shawnee will be delighted to welcome you at Blessed on the Bright Side.  Since this blog hop runs through the weekend (April 7-10), you have plenty of time to visit each stop and comment on each, please

My grandbaby,
Charlotte Grace,
is now 4 mos old!
For my blog hop visitors, this is the third of what I hope will be four posts (I haven't finished my project for Day 4 yet!!), so please stop back to see what else is in store. (I'll leave up Days 1 and 2 if you'd like to scroll to get complete details on that day's projects, too!)

Each post will contain a different gift item you can put in a loved one's Easter basket.  Not all of our friends/family can have candy, and some simply can't get enough.  Some are traditionalists and want Easter eggs, and others don't care what is in the basket, as long as the Easter Bunny visits.

Here's my project for DAY #3 -  This is a gift card holder that I made using an empty, standard-issue toilet paper cardboard roll. YES, you can re-use just about everything in your house ... isn't UP-CYCLING fun, and cheap!?

To make this, take your toilet paper cardboard roll and smoosh it flat. Run your boner tool over it to make the edges nice and crisp.  Take some very strong adhesive (e.g., red-backed tape, or Sookwang) and shut ONLY the bottom of the roll.

Next, cut your cover paper to size. For this one, I used a small stack of paper (Kids' pattern) and found one that looked like Easter to me in the pastel plaid. I found some coordinating pink and yellow cardstock and punched the end with a Fiskars running border. Stamped the sentiment, and adhered the two papers to the top, tucking the edges inside, like a cuff.

For the gift card holder that slides out, I simply used a Sizzix label cutting die, and double-stick the gift card to it. Tied some ribbon for easy grab, and you're good to go!  A Joann's gift card -- perfect for MY Easter basket, LOL!

BLOG CANDY: One lucky follower will win the brand-new Paper Crimping Tool I mentioned in Day 1 and Day 2's post.  You can use a crimper to seal edges (like with the "sour cream container" shown yesterday) or to create textured interest. I picked this tool out specially for this hop, since it's not a tool that everybody has in their arsenal!
TO WIN IT:

 1. Be or become a follower of this blog. This is mandatory, and I do check!

2. Post a comment here, and please include a way for me to contact you when you win!  You can post one comment per day.

3. For one extra chance to win, post a comment on each of the 15 blog stops linked below once during the hop, and tell me you did or will, in your comment here.

Now in case you get lost along the way, here is a roadmap of all of the talented ladies on this It's Easter Blog Hop:

I knew I was saving those toilet paper rolls for something!! And, my husband calls me a pack-rat (hehe guess I'll show him lol). I'm going to have to start making some of these especially for Christmas. The kids I buy for now are at that age where they would rather have money or a gift card for something. These will be PERFECT. Thanks for the awesome idea.
