Sizzix Designer Eileen Hull has launched her biggest Paper Trail yet -- a two-month, cross-country tour where she will be showing crafters the wonders of her scoreboard dies.

I had the great pleasure of being the first stop in Eileen's Paper Trail 2, and loved how the dies she designed for Sizzix cut mini-albums, blocks, a suitcase and even a cradle. 

When she visited The Paper Jungle in June, Eileen showed my class of almost 20 crafters how to use the dies and embossing folders on the Big Shot machine. The samples she brought in her vintage trailer, Scotty, were out of this world!

I am pleased to say that CardMonkey's Paper Jungle is one of the proud sponsors of Paper Trail 3. Eileen will be wearing a necklace I made for her, using Close To My Heart's Base & Bling products. Her necklace features a miniature picture (1" square) I made for her using the drawing of Scotty on the trail.

How I WISH I traveled this light!

Well, actually, my bags are NOT packed but I AM about to head out on a long-awaited vacation to the Outer Banks. Hubby John booked a large and lovely Oceanside home near the beach in North Carolina, and now I have a week to get my act together.  What crafting item(s) will I bring to entertain myself for 2 weeks!!?  Aaargh, panic!!

 

I am SUCH an over-packer anyway. And this time, we're going with our two dogs Sadie and Morgan (yes, the rental allows dogs, YAY!), and we're also bringing my daughter Emily and her two lovely babies Charlotte (3.5 years old ... "I'm not a baby. I'm a big girl.") and Evan (9 weeks).  Her hubby Josh is staying home to save vacation time for our next planned trip -- a cruise in March with the family. I ♥ my family!!!

 

While I am away, I have a series of blog posts scheduled for the entire month (even though I'm not gone that long). Two other Close To My Heart Consultants and I have teamed up to show you ideas on using the 30 mini stamps that are being offered FREE in September with your qualified order of 3 retail-priced stamp-sets (not SOTM or Hostess Sets). 

 

Now, about that project I show above: 

 

The SUITCASE is a wonderful Sizzix XL Scoreboard die, designed by my friend Eileen Hull.  Eileen is venturing off on another #PaperTrail later this week. She'll be gone for two months, on an adventure that will take her to the Midwest and west. And *I* am one of her sponsors!  :)

 

Eileen came and taught a class for me on her #PaperTrail2 in June; the suitcase die was one she showed but I didn't get until later. Use chipboard (or art mat) cut to size. I ran the die through my new CROSSOVER die-cutting/embossing machine by Cheery Lynn Designs. I promise to do a video showing this fantastic machine pronto ... as soon as I get back from vacation. Oooh-la-la. 

 

Oh wait... before I ran it through the cutter, as Eileen taught, I used Aleene's Tacky Spray Glue to affix CTMH's "Wanderful" paper to the front of the scoreboard. Then both the paper and the board are identically cut, and there's no fussing or paper-piecing. Fantastic time saver!

 

I embellished the suitcase with rolled flowers (cut using CTMH's Cricut cartridge called Art Philosophy) and banners I stamped and fussy-cut. I also used a piece of CTMH Base and Bling (Eiffel tower charm) and a glass bezel charm to accent.  Inside, there's a mini-album (accordion fold) that also uses the Wanderful paper.

The #PaperTrail starts here at the Paper Jungle

Today is the day! 

CardMonkey is pleased to be the first stop on Sizzix Designer Eileen Hull's PaperTrail. 

What's it all about?  Pulling a vintage (1976 -- I guess that makes me "vintage" too, because I was in college then) Serro Scotty trailer stuffed with crafty goodness, Eileen is traveling to 20 stops (so far) in the month of June, demo'ing and teaching craft techniques.

Our plans for today start with a visit to introduce Eileen to Kathy Davis (www.kathydavis.com) and have her tour the inspiring Kathy Davis Studios (KDS) in Horsham, PA.

Kathy has been an inspiration to me long before I first met her last summer. Her poignant messages on her greeting cards along with vibrant and heartwarming art fill my spirit. The funny thing is, until last year, I never realized that Kathy and her team at KDS are practically in my backyard.

How it happened is serendipity: I signed up to be a paper-crafting instructor at the new JoAnn Store in Warrington, where JA Corporate decided what crafts those local to me wanted to learn. Frankly, it wasn't working, and I blogged about wanting to work with KDS papers, which were then carried exclusively at JA. 

Kathy found me through Facebook, and had her friend and VP Bill Lessa hunt me down -- to tell me that I certainly could teach papercrafting at KDS, and so our journey and friendship began.

I'm happy to share that with Eileen, who I also met rather serendipitously through Facebook!  And now, Eileen is on her way here!

After touring KDS, the plan is for Eileen to stop back at the Paper Jungle for a brief "real world" tour of what a crafting room really looks like (LOL!).  Then we'll hop in Millie, my intrepid 2013 Honda Accord, for a trip -- maybe to Rice's Market, maybe to Eileen's old stomping grounds of Easton, PA (and my first-ever visit to Hobby Lobby).  Then back to the Jungle to freshen up for this evening's Technique Tuesday class.  

YES, Eileen will be teaching some techniques in embossing and die cuting -- a class I sorely need!  There are 15-20 crafters joining us at Frank's Pizza in Warminster (because everything goes better with food!) from 6-8 p.m.  We'll not only be taught by a master (that's Eileen!) but we'll also have a chance to tour her vintage trailer -- I assume one-by-one, LOL.

Special Announcement! Eileen and "Scotty" are Visiting the Paper Jungle!

I am excited and delighted to be Eileen Hull's first stop on her Paper Trail, as she heads into the Northeast and beyond.

Come out and join a dozen or so of your crafting buddies while we learn more about die cutting and embossing from Eileen, a true craft master!  

Eileen has packed her vintage turquoise Scotty trailer full of crafting goodness, which we'll be able to tour.  

All supplies for this class are included in the $20 registration fee.  That fee also includes your pizza dinner and beverages, as we're holding this gathering at Frank's Pizza, 989 County Line Road in Warminster. (It has a Hatboro mailing address, go figure -- but it's in the Rosemore Shopping Center.)
